Overview: Ascentec Engineering, LLC. located in Tualatin, Oregon, is seeking Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Interns to join our team starting right away and working through the 2020 summer.  The Engineering Intern(s) will be responsible for a wide variety of projects that range from new workspace facilities improvements, process improvements, machine operation, inspection optimization.  The successful candidate(s) for the position will support overall business objectives of our machining area through continuous improvement in productivity of operations, work with other Maintenance, Engineering and Manufacturing departments in the development of processes to increase production quality, efficiency or volume.


Create and improve automated systems and processes
Work to increase production and operations efficiency by establishing work methods and sequence of operations, optimizing utilization of production facilities and labor.  This includes process design, ergonomic analysis, coordinating plant layout changes and developing labor standards
Perform time studies and develop standard work and work instructions for Operators
Research and recommend equipment.  Design fixtures for current and new equipment
Optimize ERP system processes
Support Manufacturing Engineers and Project Manager in the design of value stream flow, capacity analysis and labor optimization through the new process
Participate in the development of floor layout with Leadership to improve the flow of material through production processes
Participate in safety activities including making recommendations to improve safety and assisting in the implementation of safety ideas
Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Qualifications:

At least 3 years into a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or other related Engineering discipline required
Ability to interpret manufacturing schematics and blueprints and GD&T
Familiar with statistical quality control methods
Must have strong analytical, statistical and critical thinking skills
Experience in Mechanical Engineering Principles such as work measurement, methods engineering and workplace design
Experience in applying ergonomics principles to workplace design
Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication and teamwork.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both Senior Management and Production
Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
Extremely detail oriented and focused on helping to maintain consistent quality standards
Strong mechanical hands-on skills
